Dorota, aged 39, mother of Julia (aged 10)
I really like kids and that is why my first job (before starting my studies) was being an au-pair in Germany. I took care of two adorable kids, Ann (aged 3) and Martin (aged 7) for a year. It gave me not only pleasure but also a great deal of satisfaction.
After coming back I started my sociology studies at the University of Lodz. In the course of the studies I got married and just after graduation my daughter Julia was born. Being the mother is the most fascinating experience of my life. It is absolutely unbelievable to me to see how this little human being grows day by day and help him in it. All this time spent with Julia is the most precious to me.
When Julia went to the nursery school I stared post graduate studies of finance and banking at the Economic University of Wroclaw.
In 2005 I went to Ireland with my daughter where I worked as social care worker at Brothers of Charity in Limeric. When I came back to Poland after almost a year I took up a job in a bank. After some time, however, I realised that working with people, specially kids, is much closer to me than numbers or charts. Thus, together with my good friend, I decided to open a childminding in London.
I've completed a Montessori method course which enables me to work with children using her methods and materials. Apart from that I also finished a first aid course which is essential if we want the children to be safe with us.
Since September 2008 I have been working as a childminding assisstant and I have already attended a briefing session to become a childminder myself.
